RIP our angels
I was delaying writing this post. Or maybe I shouldn't have written it at all, or maybe just daily vet visits, daily messages about poorly cats, injured cats, kittens found in dumpsters and so on just sucked all the energy that was reserved for grieving. Often these days there is no time for grief – bills need to be paid, appointments made, volunteers found, money found, food and litter bought… but where does grief go then? And how to say goodbyes in this fast-moving world that tugs and tugs at your seams till one day you just rip and spill…
So I will write about losing our Ottis a week ago. Yes, he wasn't the friendliest guy, or the prettiest, but as so many others he was a part of our furry tribe – his presence was noticed, his hunting skills observed, his clinging to life even while being constantly sick was inspiring. Another one living on borrowed time… RIP Ottis.
Then we lost Princess, without even knowing her well. Since she was found with a crushed jaw and roof of the mouth, she endured surgeries and cage confinements and lengthy clinic stays till eventually something entirely different took her, and after returning back to us just for a day, she died on the way to the clinic.
And then, as always, to close the loop, as death walks in threes, our sweet Agapi passed away in Germany, in the arms of her dad.
So today we chose to stop for a minute and grieve, acknowledge the empty space these beautiful animals left in this world, be glad that we met them, and hope that in their brief lives our care and our love made a difference. RIP our angels.
