In loving memory

Paprika, a green-eyed tabby rescue cat from Corfu

Paprika

Rest beautiful girl ยท 18 August 2026

A wonderful soul has left us.

In December 2025, a little tabby was found dragging herself off the road after a car had hit her. Her pelvis was broken, and the surgery she needed was far beyond what we could afford — but the sheer determination to live in this tiny creature touched us all. So, as always, we tried. And thanks to everyone who sent whatever pennies they could spare, our little Paprika came through her surgery and began, slowly, to heal.

She recovered in a foster home, alongside a shy one-eyed boy called Brave, who was healing from surgery of his own. The two of them found real comfort in each other’s company — two babies who had been through so much, quietly keeping each other warm. Brave went on to find his own loving home in the UK; you can read his happy ending here.

Anyone who met Paprika knew she was a character. Highly social, endlessly energetic, and never one to do things by halves.

Paprika — the official record ๐Ÿ˜Š

Charges: disorderly conduct, nocturnal disturbances, and establishing psychological dominance over the bathroom and its occupants. Behaviour in custody: usually friendly — becomes a serious administrative problem when hungry. Best suited to a household willing to participate in organised chaos. Considered, by all authorities, a significant affection risk.

That was Paprika: full of mischief, full of life, and impossible not to love. She had already survived so much — the accident, the long recovery, the endless vet visits — and she faced all of it with a will to live that humbled everyone around her.

In August 2026, she fell suddenly and gravely ill, and despite everything the clinic could do, this time her small body could not fight through. She slipped away on 18 August, surrounded by the people who loved her.

This world was not always kind to Paprika. But we hope that the love her fosters, her friends and all of us showed her was enough to keep her warm — then, and always. ๐Ÿ’•

Rest beautiful girl. You fought so hard, and you were so loved. ๐ŸŒˆ
