The little wildling who learned to trust.

Mira was this little scrawny thing that terrified tourists — a baby girl with a back leg missing from the knee down, living under the rubbish bins by a busy road. So many people asked charities to help, so many tried to catch this elusive, strange little creature — all in vain. Until one day, another foreigner who visited her often asked Sofia, who fed the colony at that bin, to help catch her. So Sofia did. She is a magician with wildlings like Mira.

The beginning wasn’t pretty — a lot of hissing and sneering — until she’d had her vaccines and moved in with the other teenagers. And there, the purring machine was switched on full blast: attention-seeking, cuddling, nose-rubbing, and all the other things we fall for so easily. Mira started to properly “cat,” and oh my, that funny face is so hard to resist. Adorableness overload.

You see, when she began to trust us, when she felt completely safe, a whole new kitten emerged — no sign of that scrawny little wildling who, God knows how, survived in that spot on only three legs. She’s around 4 to 5 months old, gets along well with other cats, but oh, she would love a human all of her own.
