Goodbye, July!
This summer seems to be no different – many injured, many dumped, many rescued.
We have lost count of our vet patients this July. There has been no end to the bronchitis cases (our colony is in a very humid spot), followed by pancreatitis, liver, kidney and gastrointestinal problems. We are also seeing far too many neurological issues caused by severe ear infections, chronic cat flu, or simply by eating or drinking something toxic.
Then there are rotten teeth, chronic stomatitis and all the dangers that surround our colony. Living between the airport with its pollution, a cemetery where toxic disinfectants are used, and rubbish bins where we never know what has been thrown away, there is simply no way for us to protect them from everything.
On top of that come the injuries from falls, scooters and cars. There are insect bites – especially lately from wasps – leaving cats with massive infected abscesses. There are parasites, even tiny blood parasites like hemobartonella that slowly suck the life out of them. And then come the allergies, food sensitivities, diarrhoea... the list never seems to end.
At the moment, our blind girl Nemo is hospitalized with gastritis and pneumonia. Baby Lila has a dislocated shoulder despite living safely in our kitten house. Topsy is battling painful dental disease together with pancreatitis.
Almost 200 rescued cats... and only us — and you — standing between suffering and comfort, pain and healing, fear and hope. Every donation, every share, every kind word helps us keep saying “yes” to the next cat that needs us. Together, we give them the chance to find a loving home, or simply to spend their days cared for and deeply loved here with us.
Thank you for standing by our side.
