His name says it all — a 5 kg love bug.

Apolonas is… well, his name says it all! He is a 5 kg love bug, and we are absolutely not exaggerating when we say this boy has been known to pull at people’s trousers because he desperately wants attention. If you ignore him, he simply finds another way to make sure you notice him — his message is very clear: “Excuse me. I am here. You should be cuddling me.” And honestly, he has a point.

But behind this hilarious, enormous personality is a rather sad story. Apolonas arrived at our shelter two years ago after his owner sadly passed away at home. She lived in a remote area, and her cats and dogs — all indoors — survived only through sheer luck. When her family declined to take in her pets, the police contacted us, and we took in all four cats.

The two older cats were eventually adopted in Germany, but Apolonas and his sister Afrodity are still waiting for their chance.

Sadly, this gorgeous boy has developed neurological problems. He is now a little wobbly and needs to live indoors, or somewhere with a completely safe enclosure or secure garden. Otherwise he is healthy, and we hope that with treatment he will become more stable.

If you have a weakness for big, cuddly tom boys, Apolonas is your boy. His greatest passions are hugs, head bumps, climbing onto laps and being as close to his humans as possible. He has enough love for absolutely everyone. He is sterilised and vaccinated, good with dogs as he lived with them before, and basically believes every human he meets is a potential new best friend.

Apolonas has already lost his home once, through no fault of his own. Now he just needs someone who will give him the safe, loving forever home he has been waiting for. Could you be his person? ❤️
